Our sense of touch is easily one of the strongest sensations in the body. It has even been used as a form of medical therapy going back thousands of years to ancient time. With the right understanding of pressure points and anatomy, you can then, of course use the power of massage to help ease the pain of .

To many people that have dealt with sciatica for a long time, lasting relief from the pain may seem like a pipe dream. Only about 20 of all people that have sciatica even know that they have a diagnosable condition that, once identified, can actually be cleared up pretty easily. Unfortunately many out there will just accept that pain is a normal part of life and that it just comes with the aging process. Other people might look the other way and secretly hope that it somehow goes away on its own.

One of the primary causes of sciatica is poor posture and improper alignment of the spinal column. You must keep in consideration just how sensitive the back can be when you start any sort of treatment.

Problems with the lower back muscles often relate back to posture. To fix this you most likely need to adjust the way you sit, walk, and even the way you stand up. Back pain will present itself sooner or later if you constantly have poor posture. Our muscles will adapt to how we hold ourselves over time, so poor posture can be a real challenge to overcome at first.

Many physical therapy programs begin by stretching the lower back muscles and taking pressure away from this region of the body, giving these muscles a much-needed chance to relax. All this stretching and postural correction may take effort, but in the long run, it is much better than simply looking the other way, ignoring the root cause of the problem, and taking pain killers. You see pain killers only take away the pain, without really resolving the true cause. This can result in the tissues not actually healing, and in fact getting worse over time. Where as with postural correction, massage, and physical therapy, there is a genuine chance of healing.

Exercising and stretching for sciatica relief might take a little getting used to, but once you master a few of the basic movements, you don’t even really need to think that much about what you’re doing. After you’ve got the initial pain under control, you’ll likely be able to tone down your upkeep regimen, but you will still need to do it regularly or else the pain may slowly creep back in. Don’t simply stop your practice as soon as the pain goes away.

At this point, you want to get in the habit of holding your body with better posture as you go through your daily routine. If you can do this, then you’re really fixing a lot of the problems that cause sciatica.

You can beat sciatica with proper stretching, physical therapy, and some massage, but unless you want the pain to come back in the future, you need to take care of yourself and make sure that you start practicing better posture in every area of your daily life.
